Is this a Recognized Program?
Yes, Evolve Dental Academy strives to provide the highest quality education. Our Full-time Dental Business Administration Program is licensed through the Alberta Ministry of Advanced Education and adheres to the guidelines and standards as outlined by the Private Vocational Training Act. Our Individual Courses do not hold licensure as it is not required with this delivery method.
I am concerned with taking an "online" program. Is this course comparable to classroom training?
Evolve’s program is actually quite different from traditional classroom programs, and it is what sets us apart.
Many qualities of the successful dental administrator directly correlate with skills developed when learning online.
Such attributes include; the ability to self motivate and work independently, read and interpret instructions and data, show resourcefulness and practice research skills, as well as display proficiency in using computers and software.
The skills developed in learning through an online curriculum provides graduates with additional relatable expertise when it comes to the workplace.
Does online learning offer the instructor support I need?
Technology nowadays allows us to communicate with our students in various ways, based on their learning preferences. Evolve offers students unlimited access to an instructor via telephone, email, online chat or skype, in order to help navigate course materials and assignments.
This one on one attention and support is offered throughout the program, as well as after graduation.
Can I get government funding for tuition fees?
Yes! Evolve’s Dental Business Administration program holds designation status within the province of Alberta, and therefore students are eligible to apply for students loans.
Will I get a job?
There is a large demand for Dental Administrators throughout Canada, and through our program students receive assistance writing resumes and interview preparation. Students are expected to take initiative by following the application and interview process in order to obtain employment. We cannot guarantee job placement, but we do provide support and assistance to our graduates through the entire practicum and job search process until they find employment.
How much will I make?
Starting wages for entry-level administrators will depend on a number of factors including the specific role the graduate is hired for, as well the province in which they reside. Average starting wages commonly ranging from $17/hour to $20/hour, with plenty of opportunity for advancement within the field. Often times, experienced administrators eventually take on more complex roles such as Office Manager, Treatment Coordinator, Accounts Manager or Consultant. Administrators moving into these specialized roles may expect wages of $25-$30 or more/hour.
Do I need to do a working practicum?
Completion of a working practicum is not a requirement for graduation. Graduates who choose to participate in a working practicum are at an advantage for obtaining employment as their resume will include dental based work experience as well as employer references. A working practicum also shows potential employers commitment and initiative, and allows graduates to enter the workplace with additional confidence in their abilities.
Is my computer is compatible with the Dental Learning Edition Software?
A Windows based computer is required for the dental software portion of the program (Apple computers such as Mac or iPad tablets are not compatible).
If you are unsure as to whether your computer is compatible, please email [email protected] with the make and model of your computer and we will find out for you.
If your computer is not compatible, lender computers are available to students across Canada for an additional fee.
